Who We Are

Our team has been helping the Tennessee Valley community overcome communication disorders for nearly seven decades. We were founded by the Siskin family in May 1953 to provide diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for people with hearing and speech impairments and to promote education and research related to communication disorders.

We exist to improve quality of life in our area. We’re there for first steps, first words and for the first time people hear in decades. And we ensure all individuals have access to the services and equipment they need, regardless of their ability to pay.

Testimonials

Hear from our community

My son started going to speech therapy in August of 2021. He wasn’t speaking at all, other than the occasional “mama” or “dada.” His therapist worked so hard with him and they formed a great relationship. By March 2022, he was pronouncing words amazingly and putting 3-4 words together. Now, he is doing great! He can effectively communicate with everyone he meets. He’s so much happier and less frustrated being able to communicate his wants and needs.

Patient's Mother
My husband and I noticed when my son was three that his speech wasn’t as clear as other kids. He got to the point where he started stuttering and then would get frustrated and lower his head and refuse to talk. It broke our hearts. My son’s speech therapist has been a godsend for us. She truly has changed my son’s life. We could tell that she truly cared about him-not just his speech but other areas that were needed to help him get ready for kindergarten.

I moved here from the Ukraine with my wife to escape the war. I worked in the mines and it was very loud and dangerous. Over 20 years I lost my hearing. In the Ukraine I used to feed birds out of my hands. Their birdsong was my favorite sound. Because of my hearing devices, I can hear them again.
